PDY

Not even the trenches of  a Greensburg foundation can escape public displays of yoga.

$1.00 in Kansas=10 commandments

Found this charm braclet with the ten comandments for a dollar at the Happy Trails flea market. Can't beat having these reminders on your wrist. Thou shall honor thy mother and father caught my eye while I was at walmart today so I called Valma.

"These streets are extended gutters.."

Found while big crawler dozers and loaders excavated the site of the new business incubator on Main Street.

Starlight theater

Found in the debris where the old Starlight movie theater stood. Sad they will never be filled with yummy popcorns.

Palenteria Rio Grande

Finally, after months of unpalatable field research, I have discovered a delicious secret in Dodge City. Palenteria Rio Grande is an ice cream parlor that, in the usual dodgey architectural fashion, looks just like a gas station from the outside, but behind that ugly exterior is handmade, custom wrapped ice cream and pops. I sampled them all. The best were the strawberry's and cream and a pouch filled with icy creamy vanilla stuff.

Mason Jars

Depression ware glass jars found on the site of the new Mendonite housing project. There were a lot more in the heap of rumble, caked in earth and cement. We rescued a couple and will use them as background elements in our interviews.

Memo Toast

Shrunken Head

KT found this freaky little doll head on the site of Greensburg's new water tower; my new favorite place in town. It's currently being wielded part by part by water tower erection specialist John Cash; my new favorite person in town. The 150' tower will be assembled and up on Thursday!

Huntin'

Love this photo of hunters. Found at the nativity ladies house (a women in Greensburg who gave away nativity scenes to people during the holiday's).

Eagle chair

Can't see the detail in this photo, but Kelly is sitting in a red velvet chair, crowned by a spread eagle. We found this set of chairs at Legends, an incredible antique mall in Wichita where we spent an entire day while caught in a blizzard over the holiday's.
They provided inspiration for the chairs that ultimately ended up in Mustachio's.

Ninja Star & Aquarium Gem

Picked up this ancient school desk on the side of the road today in Dodge. A bunch of kids who where jumping rope in their Sunday best, helped me load it into the car. I put it in Mustachios where it will now have a life of holding drinks.

Duck-rabbit

This old piece of hardware was found by the grain elevator. Not only does it appear to be hand whittled, it reminds me of the the whole "duck-rabbit" illusion so commonly used in philosophy to illustrate Naive Realism.

Min-Donk

Those of us who have seen him know; Greensburg's greatest hidden treasure is Mini-Donkey. Discovered when aimlessly shooting one day. Off the beaten path, living without human supervision in a broken-down mini-barn. So small, so plumb. Always there, always wise. He is our mascot. He gives hope to a sometimes hopeless crew. He never disappoints.

Tropical Paradise

This ironic message was being tossed in the wind at the groundbreaking of the new John Deere location in Greensburg. I'm so happy I was able to grab it with my numb fingers. Well the worth the chase.

Cat Skeleton

One of my first and most thrilling discoveries. So intact. So well preserved. Found on the old Dixon property, may be their old cat that died in the tornado back in May.
